This April, The Wayback had the pleasure of hosting an unforgettable Austin event for Mackenzie-Childs stunning new Emerald Check collection. Mackenzie-Childs partnered with Courtney Shields, co-founder of DIBS Beauty, to host this launch party. This was the perfect collaboration for us, as we were able to incorporate different elements from the iconic housewares brand and transform our cafe and cabana space to showcase the emerald green checkered designs.

The Emerald Check collection covered our cafe walls as well as the bar and even the cabana outside. We were trying to highlight the collection as a whole, and the fact that we were able to create delicious dishes to make the emerald check collection truly stand out set the stage for this collection launch. From the iconic teapot and dinnerware to serving dishes and trays full of food, every corner of The Wayback showcased the collection's charm.

Mackenzie-Childs' canisters, vases, bowls, mugs, salad plates, pitchers, and platters were arranged to demonstrate how these pieces are a must for anyone who loves to host. The Wayback Cafe Contribution

Our cafe team crafted a menu that highlighted both the beauty of the Emerald Check collection and some of our signature Wayback Cafe dishes. Guests enjoyed our signature dishes picnic-style, from the cold-pressed watermelon featuring feta, mint, jalapeño, and pistachios to the burrata with fresh pear, maple vinaigrette, and arugula, served on warm ciabatta. All were beautifully plated on the collection's serving pieces.

An Experience Beyond the Ordinary

This launch event went far beyond a typical product showcase. We were able to bring experiences that included live music entertainment by Josh Klaus Music, aura readings by Moon Aura Nomad, and a charm bar by Mignonne Gavigan where attendees could create personalized keepsakes. Florals by Ida Mayes Floral added arrangements inside the cafe as well as at the cabana that complemented the emerald collection throughout the space. Every detail was carefully curated to create an inviting, luxurious atmosphere.
